Scope of this lighting plan
This is an open-air, flat-floor block-light calculation using Manhattan distance. It ignores daylight, walls, roofs, water attenuation and occlusion. Auto layout is a regular covering grid, not a proof of the fewest possible lights. Changing settings keeps your current sources until you choose Auto layout again.
Meeting the selected light rule prevents ordinary light-sensitive Overworld monster spawning only. Slimes, spawners, raids, Nether mobs and other special spawning rules are outside this model. Use non-spawnable surfaces where lighting alone is insufficient.
About Minecraft Spawn Proofing Calculator
Plan torch spacing on a Minecraft floor. Add and remove lights, inspect block-light levels and find spots below the selected monster-spawning threshold.
Frequently asked questions
- Does lighting stop every type of mob spawning?
- No. The lighting map covers ordinary light-sensitive Overworld monsters on an unobstructed flat floor. Slimes, spawners, raids and other special spawning rules require separate checks.
