What the distance check means

Ordinary natural spawning excludes positions within 24 blocks of a player. Non-persistent hostile mobs can randomly despawn beyond 32 blocks after inactivity and immediately despawn beyond 128 blocks from the nearest player. Other players can change these distances.

Distance alone does not guarantee spawning. Simulation distance, ticking chunks, world-spawn exclusion, mob caps, biome, floor blocks and lighting still apply. This does not model spawners, raids, persistent mobs, special mob categories or Bedrock rules.

“Place AFK above centre” chooses the highest whole-block Y keeping this platform’s farthest spawn position within 128 blocks. Include the kill chamber and transport route when checking your complete farm.

About Minecraft Mob Spawn & Despawn Calculator

Plan an AFK position for a Minecraft Java mob farm. Check the 24-block exclusion and 128-block distance envelope across an entire spawning platform.

Frequently asked questions

Does being in range guarantee a mob will spawn?
No. The calculator checks distance only. Light, biome, floor blocks, mob caps, ticking chunks, simulation distance and special spawning rules still apply. It models ordinary Java natural hostile-mob spawning.
