About Minecraft Potion & Effect Generator

Work out how to brew any Minecraft potion, or build a custom one that does not exist in the game. In Brewable mode, pick an effect and the tool shows the ingredient and the brewing steps, plus the /give command for the finished potion, splash potion, lingering potion or tipped arrow.

In Custom mode, stack any status effects with your own amplifier and duration to make a potion that, for example, gives Strength V for ten minutes. The generator writes the correct command for your version, using item components on 1.20.5+ and the older potion NBT on earlier versions.

Minecraft brewing recipes

Every brewable potion starts from an Awkward Potion (Nether Wart in a Water Bottle), with one exception: Weakness brews straight from a Water Bottle. Add the primary ingredient for the effect, then Redstone to extend the duration or Glowstone to boost it to level II. Gunpowder turns any potion into a splash potion, and Dragon Breath makes it lingering.

Custom potions with /give

Custom mode lets you set effects the brewing stand cannot make, like Strength V or a five-minute Night Vision. On Java these go into the command as custom potion effects with a custom color. Bedrock cannot make custom potions from a command, so the tool suggests using /effect instead.

Splash, lingering and tipped arrows

Switch the container to apply your potion to a splash potion, lingering potion, or a tipped arrow (Java). The /give command updates to the matching item so you get exactly the thrown or fired version you want.
